Dakk Rekommends: Santa’s Slay (Starring Bill ‘Goldberg’)

I am super jazzed to talk about this movie. Quite the entertaining, wacky, wild, loopy, violent, off-the-wall, Cheesy X-mas Slasher classic if I do say so……. In case you missed the title and image up there (hope you didn’t, this is one of the better ones) today I got ‘Santa’ss Slay’ comin at cha. the 2005 Cheese goldmine starring none other than Bill ‘I once gave myself a concussion by being a tough guy and head-butting a steel door’ Goldberg. Let me tell you, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either and at the very least with a runtime of 78 minutes if it’s not totally your cup of tea…….. You didn’t miss out on TOO TOO much of your life and HEY,…….it’s 4-minutes shorter than ‘RUBBER’ so there’s that (More on that later…….. WINK)

As I do more and more of these videos my process gets more refined and my edits become tighter and sometimes I’ll even branch out and try new things. With this video I added the most B-roll ever (esp crammed into a video < 4 mins. All of those video inserts while on commentating in the corner are put in during Post-production (“We’ll do it in post”) and all of the cut aways and any filler. So lately I’ve been trying to do better at making you stare at this face as much as possible. POINT IS, I very much enjoy this….. I enjoy sharing my love of things with the world and with you, and I get to get better in the process of doing it. win-win in my book! ENJOY

As Per its Wikipedia entry:
Randall Colburn from The A.V. Club gave the film a positive review, calling it “simultaneously vulgar and wholesome, stupid and satirical, violent and lighthearted”.[2] Todd Martin of HorrorNews.net also liked the film, writing, “It isn’t perfect and there are times when it is a little too corny for its own good but overall it is just a fun, brainless movie that has a ton of violence in it.”[3] Brett Gallman from Oh, the Horror wrote, “Admittedly, the film doesn’t quite keep up the relentless pace the entire time, but it’s mostly one hell of a slay ride, full of cheesy dialogue, colorful characters, and plenty of laughs.”[4] David Nusair from ReelFilm Reviews gave the film a mixed 2.5 out of 5 stars, commending the film’s humor, pacing, and Goldberg’s tongue-in-cheek performance while also stating that the film ran out of steam in the third act.[5]

The film was not without its detractors. Jon Condit from Dread Central was highly critical of the film, awarding it 1.5 out of 5 stars. In his review, Condit criticized the film’s writing and direction as being “sloppy” and “amateurish”, also criticizing the abrupt ending.
