This is different but also the same….. It’s like a MOVIE FAKTS only…. I am dealing with a Video Game here and “Video Game Fakts” just seems so ick. It doesn’t buzz like I need it to, so I landed on DAKK’S CORNER for this one. That has nothing to do with anything but I just wanted to state that….. because … uh…. reasons? IDK
ANYHOW– Hey there! This is the most Monday feelin’ Tuesday ever thanks to a lovely day off school *Pours one out for MLK jr.* but I am back in the saddle and ready for battle (ope…Wild Wild West reference) and bringing you some fun content. Since we are still in the thick of SEASON 2 of the show I figured I’d go topical here and cover something related….. and Since Fallout 3 is friggin amazing it just seemed right.
I’m going to switch gears and do a little pitch I wrote for this (That’s why I actually did scripting and some preproduction work on this one….. I tend to do that on the ones that are close to the heart yanno?) so here we go:
Rusty, Ridiculous, Radiation-Soaked Railroad Rumors.
War….. War never changes…… and there are certain videogame stories that feel like urban legends out in the wasteland– half remembered, barely explained, and somehow more fun the less you know going in. Today my corner, ‘Dakk’s Corner’, is one of those. I’ve been dying to finally talk Fallout in a proper way, I’ve been trying to time it juuuuuuuuust right…and Fallout 3 in particular has been sitting in my brain lately. This video is about problem solving, this is one of those moments where the devs got clever, weird, and just a little bit unhinged– Quite literally they put a thinking hat on (ohhhh that’s good in hindsight)
What started as a simple piece of worldbuilding turns into a perfect example of Bethesda-era problem solving. The coding Equivilent of duct tape, hope, and a prayer holding things together. I won’t spoil the trick here– because seeing it click is half the joy– but if you’ve ever ridden the rails beneath the Capital Wasteland and thought “wait… something about this feels off”, you’re already closer than you think. Trust me: once you know, you’ll never unsee it– and that’s exactly why I couldn’t wait to finally cover this.
