Dakk’s Corner: The new F4 flick is….get this… FANTASTIC!

So Obviously all eyes have been on this flick since it was announced and for SEVERAL reasons……some legitimate, some ridiculous (namely: EVERYTHING SURROUNDING JULIA GARNER) and some outright outlandish. I will say this though……………. I ENJOYED EVERY BIT OF IT and not only that, but I got to enjoy it with my daughter AMELIA so it has another added and personal connection for me in the grander scheme of the MCU.

It’ss no secret that every Fantastic Four movie has been fumbled (for some reason rose colored glasses have begun rewriting the early 2000s CRINGEfest of movies. but hey, it happens) in some way,shape,or form and everytime its rebooted the more it gets right, the more it gets wrong. Now add on top of that the declining interest and boxoffice success of Marvel’s MCU Post-ENDGAME and add a dash of butthurt sexism and you’ve got a volatile concotion for MARVEL’S FIRST family. This time though I feel like it was handled btter than it ever has. Where there probelms? Sure. Was it perfect? NO….but the MCU rare is if we’re being honest.

What it gets right:

I dont want a long winded ESSAY here because that defeats the purpose of me making a video so I’ll keep it simple and hammer it home in the video:

-THE FANTASTIC FOUR as an actual FAMILY. This element is crucial and has been long ignored on the big screen. Welp, not this time.

-GALACTUS. ‘Nuff Said. The sets were practical and real, his presence was menacing, the casting choice was superb AND he wasn’t a GD cloud.

-Stingray from Conra Kai is MOLE MAN, which for me is the smallest of victories. Paul Walter Hauser is a gem and I’m glad he’s getting recognition lately

-The stakes felt real. Obvioulsy there’s always an element of ‘THE GOOD GUYS ARE GONNA WIN’ but I legit thought they punched Sue’s tikcet for a second there.

-FRANKLIN RICHARDS gets introduced. Comic readers rejoice, while others remain obvilious
