‘Repo! The Genetic Opera!’…….Where do I begin? It’s like R Kelly’s trapped in the closet, its ballsy, and innovative. I’ve been wanting to make this video for a WHILE now (in fact it was on my OG whiteboard when I started brainstorming this series) and today it is finally here. There’s a lot I did different here and going forward it’s helped me polished my flow na dstyle a bit so that’s nice as well. It’s a long one tho….. like 12mins but……what can I say……. I LIKE this movie and enjoy talking about it. I hope you enjoy it too!
A summary of the film:
Repo! The Genetic Opera is a really weird but memorable movie set in a future where people can buy new organs if they get sick, but they’re basically paying them off like a loan. If they miss payments, a scary guy called the Repo Man shows up and violently takes the organs back, which is as bad as it sounds. The story mostly follows a teenage girl who’s been kept sheltered her whole life and starts learning dark secrets about her family, the company that sells the organs, and the messed-up world she lives in. The whole movie is told through rock opera songs, so characters sing instead of talk a lot, and it mixes horror, drama, and dark humor in a way that’s creepy but kind of fun.
