Wait, What!? ‘Barbie’ Director is rebooting NARNIA?

How am I just finding out aboot this? Greta Gerwig????? The Narnia series!!??? No friggin way….I am BEYOND hyped. I just want to say, FOR THE RECORD, that I very much enjoyed BARBIE….The house of the Deviol wasn’t bad, I uh….did just learn she did a remake of LITTLE WOMEN So I def gotta see that. Either way though I am a fan of her and her directing style and I NEVER SHY AWAY FROM A CHANCE TO SEE RYAN GOSLING. Nope. Not in my nature at all. ANYWHO……

Turns out that she is going to be helming the reboot of the CHRONICLES of NARNIA series, and this time I think they’re doing it “right”. In case you didn’t know the books are all sorts of wonky and they weren’t written in chronological order per se, and when it was given and order NATURALLY AMERICA DIDN’T FOLLOW IT. So while ‘THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE was the first written book, chronologically THE MAGICIAN’s NEPHEW is the first STORY in that universe. It’s dumb…..all of it…… and they didn’t make anything easier or clarify any of that nonsense the first time the movies came out.

Based off the article I was just reading VIA SUPERHEROHYPE sounds like Greta is assembling what was referred to as (and I quote) a “star-studded cast consisting of Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, and Meryl Streep as the voice of Aslan”. This also marks Mackey and Streep’s latest collaboration with Gerwig after working together on Barbie and then that Little Women remake I was talking about (still need to see it).

According to a new report from What’s On Netflix, Avar Jager is set to join the film. The relative newcomer will play the role of one of Polly’s (Beatrice Campbell) sister, with her role as of now specifically noted as “Polly’s sister 3.”

What’s interesting about the casting, though, is that Polly’s sisters are not explicitly referred to in C.S. Lewis’ original 1955 novel. While the novel does make reference to Polly’s family, the report mentions that the movie is likely expanding out from the book a bit, even if the sisters roles “will be a small part” of the movie.
